Why LangSEO Doesn't Have a Translation Editor (And Why That's a Good Thing)
Most translation apps prominently feature a manual side-by-side editor. We deliberately don't. Here's the reasoning behind that choice.
The observation
If you browse the Shopify App Store for translation apps, you'll notice something: almost every competitor — Weglot, Transcy, Hextom, T Lab, langify — prominently features a translation editor in their screenshots. Side-by-side panels. Visual on-page editing. Inline correction tools.
LangSEO doesn't have this. If you look at our screenshots, you'll see a preview screen, a translation progress view, and a quality comparison tool. But no editor.
This isn't because we haven't gotten around to building one. It's a deliberate product decision. And to explain it, we need to ask a simple question:
Why would a merchant need to frequently edit translations?
Why every other app has an editor
There's really only one honest answer: the AI translation wasn't good enough.
Most Shopify translation apps use general-purpose machine translation engines — Google Translate, DeepL, or basic ChatGPT API calls. These are excellent for general text, but they weren't designed for e-commerce content specifically. They struggle with:

Domain context
You tell LangSEO what kind of store you run — "luxury women's fashion", "outdoor camping gear", "organic skincare". This context shapes the tone, vocabulary, and style of every translation. A camping gear store gets rugged, practical language. A luxury fashion store gets elegant, aspirational copy.
HTML/Liquid preservation
GPT-4.1 preserves HTML tags, Liquid template variables, and inline styles correctly. No more broken {{ product.title }} or mangled <a href="..."> tags.
